The Broadsmen In The Spotlight

Last Updated: 19th December 2023

Looking to elevate your event to the next level with stunning entertainment? Let us introduce The Broadsmen! This captivating 3 to 4-piece band perform the best feel-good hits of the past 60 years with their signature folky flair. Their charming take on rock, pop and soul classics can fill any dance floor, and they even throw in some Irish songs with an option to add a tremendous fiddle player. We had a chat with this energetic acoustic band to find out more!

Who are The Broadsmen?

“We are The Broadsmen. We’re Dan, Brian, and Tom: an acoustic party band with a festival-folk-style line up and an Irish twist. We’re also the best of mates and love performing together. We think you can mix business and pleasure!”

Give us a wow fact about you!

What can a wedding couple/client expect when they book you?

“We love to bring that party energy to your event to get all your guests on the dance floor! We play a huge range of songs from the 60’s right up to 2023 so there’s always something for everyone!”

Do you offer any optional extras? If so, what are they and why should people book them?

“We certainly do! We offer a roaming acoustic set, which you can book as a solo, duo, or full band line-up. It’s perfect for making your drinks reception memorable. We also work with a brilliant fiddle player, so if you want to add some extra wow plus an Irish set, we can sort that too! Just get in touch, we’re always up for new ideas and happy to help with anything you need to make your event more personal.”

Which song is your favourite to perform?

“Our favourite songs to perform are either Wannabe or Dancing Queen as they always get people dancing!”

Which is the song you can always rely on to fill the dance floor?

“Proud Mary, 500 Miles and Sweet Caroline all get people rushing to the dance floor without fail!”

Top requested song?

“Our most requested song would have be Little Lion Man by Mumford and Sons. Although, we do get asked to play a lot of Irish songs too, which we love doing as it’s something unique that we can offer.”

Top choice for a first dance song?

“Top choice we’ve had for a first dance was You Make My Dreams (Come True) by Hall and Oates. It was something different and we loved it!”

Favourite sing a long song?

“The best song for a sing along must be Teenage Dirtbag, everyone always knows all the words.”

What inspired you to be musicians?

Dan: “For me, it was my parents. They’re both musicians so it was an obvious choice. That and listening to my favourite bands when I was growing up and wanting to play live music!”

Do you get along with each other all of the time?

“Weirdly, we do get along all the time! Everyone is so relaxed and easy going so we have a great band dynamic and always makes the gigs really fun!”

Who has the most annoying habit and what is it?

Dan: “Tom and I agree on this one. It’s Brian filming the band for social media.”
Brian: “It’s Tom and Dan moaning all the time, about me filming the band for social media.”

What’s the best thing about being musicians?

Dan: “The best thing about being a musician is playing drums for a living! I have to pinch myself that I get to do this for a job.”

… and what’s the worst?

“The worst is the travel and the unsocial hours – but there are worse things to dislike about a job!”

Most memorable moment of your career as musicians?

“Most memorable moment in my career (Dan) would still have to be my very first tour. I was 18 and it was an amazing way to see Europe!”

Weirdest moment/thing that’s happened at a wedding/event?

“The weirdest, but also maybe the coolest, was when one of the guests was a professional Elvis impersonator who leaped into action…that was a great surprise!”

If you weren’t musicians, what would you be doing?

“If we weren’t musicians then Dan would be a gardener, Tom would be very bored, (or maybe a carpenter), and Brian thinks that he would be an influencer. Let’s be honest; we’d all be lost if this wasn’t what we were doing!”

Top tip for anyone booking wedding/party entertainment?

“Don’t stress over timings! Wedding always run late. We can be flexible and it will all come together on the night! Oh, and… INVITE THE BROADSMEN!”
