The next best thing to the legendary Take That themselves, Take That Forever put on a performance to remember. Filled with the boy band’s greatest hits, and some lesser-known ballads, it is like Gary, Mark and Howard are in the room themselves!
We had a catch up with the boys to find out what inspired them to become musicians, what they love most about performing and more!
Who are Take That Forever?
“Mike (Gary), Matt (Howard) and Paul (Mark). Between us, we have over 60 years of performing experience and have played shows all over the world. We have also performed alongside great artists, such as Kylie Minogue, Jools Holland, Michael Ball and Joe Cocker!”
Give us a wow fact about your act!
“We have been performing together in different shows for over 10 years.”
What inspired you all to become musicians?
“Obviously a love of music, but also a deep love of performing for people. Walking on stage and working a crowd until you’ve got them in the palm of your hand and given them a fantastic night to remember.”
Which song is your favourite to perform?
“It has to be Never Forget. Feeling the emotion in the room, what it means to people and seeing all those hands in the air. It’s magic.”
Out of the songs you’ve been asked to learn, which is your favourite?
“We’ve really enjoyed learning Everlasting. It’s a great song with beautiful lyrics.”
One final song question, which is the song you can always rely on to fill the dance floor?
“Could It Be Magic always gets them going.”
Do you get on with each other all of the time?
“Not ALL the time, it would be weird if we did. But we’ve never had any major fall-outs. It’s usually just bickering over someone getting the wrong coffee… Mike loves his fancy coffees!”
Who has the most annoying habit (and what is it)?
“That has to be Matt… but we can’t say what it is!”
What’s the best thing about being in a band?
“Having these brothers with you on stage and off. There’s a deep bond and we’re all there for each other 100%.”
… and what’s the worst?
“Having these brothers with you on stage and off! lol”
What’s the weirdest thing that’s happened to you at a wedding?
“We’ve had our clothes ripped off us a few times, but the weirdest one was probably when the groom ripped his own clothes off in the middle of the dance floor!”
Most memorable moment?
“We played a show in Belfast a couple of years ago. The place was absolutely packed, the crowd were amazing. But when we played Rule The World, they were absolutely deafening, singing along and loving it. All of them had their phones out with the torches in. It looked incredible.”
If you weren’t musicians, what would you be doing?
“We’d all probably be working in McDonalds or something. We’re not qualified to do anything else!”
